Pinwheel Galaxy: Andromeda, Milky Way and Pinwheel Galaxy, which is about 3 million LY away, are the three big galaxies of our Local Group of Galaxies, which are gravitationally bound. They will eventually merge to one gigantic elliptic galaxy. Within Pinwheel Galaxy one can recognize many red star generating regions besides dark dust bands. These regions were augmented by merging H-alpha frames into the image.
