The Cosmic Bat: This Dark Nebula with the designation LDN 43 or Sh2-155 is part of a huge Molecular Cloud in the constellation Ophiuchus. In very deep exposures it comes up as a deep dark peculiar shape, which blocks the visible star light behind it by nearly total absorption .
With a little bit of phantasy the shape looks like a big bat flying over the cosmic reaches. Some brighter areas at the edges are smaller emission nebulae indicating starbirth from gas and dust.
