Venus Transit: On June 8, 2004 an extremely rare astronomical event took place. The shadow of the planet Venus crossed the sun. Measurements at several of these events within the last centuries were the base to determine one of the most important properties, the Astronomical Unit, which denotes the distance from our sun to the planet earth. This image was taken with a sun filter through my Fujinon binoculars.
