
Jupiter: The biggest planet of our solar system (equatorial diameter 142800 km) is a gas giant (mainly hydrogen and helium). The mean distance to earth is 778 Mio km. On this image the different cloud bands can be recognized which rotate with the planet in about 10 hours time for a full rotation. This is why Jupiter is elongated at the equator due to the extreme centrifugal forces.
