Orion Nebula Region: This image is the latest edition of my repeated trials on this probably most magnificent of all nebulae. Whenever I observe Great Orion through different telescopes I am overwhelmed and frustrated at the same time: Awe for the wonderful nebula landscape and frustration that no real color can be seen. This is why I am engaged in astro-photography!

The very deep image took more than six hours of exposure to unveil the incredible beauty and complexity of this sky object using H-alpha and O[3] narrow band filters. The long exposure reveals how Orion and Running Man Nebula are imbedded in a vast molecular dust cloud. From this cloud the young bright stars, which generate by their strong ultraviolett radiation the emission and reflection colors of both nebulae, were once born.
