Komet Lovejoy trifft M79 am 28.12.14

Comet Lovejoy meeting M79 on 28.12.14: This comet with the designation C/2014 Q2 (Lovejoy), which is fastly approaching the sun, can now be observed with binoculars in the constellation of Lepus. Its tail is changing rapidly and as the image shows also breaking up.
At the time of the exposures for this image the comet seemed close to the Globular Cluster M79, about 42000 light years distant. At the upper rim of the image Spiral Galaxy NGC 1886 can be detected (mag 12.7) many millions of light years away.

The images were recorded on Dec 28/29 between 21:16 - 22:32 UT from Somerset West, South Africa.
