Open Cluster NGC 3114: In the center of this image NGC 3114 is displayed against a rich Carina Milky Way background. The two bright stars are not belonging to the assembly of mag 7-14 stars, they are located in the foreground, although they contribute significantly to the beauty of the object when observed through binoculars. It resembles somewhat a spiral or pinwheel or an outstreched hand, whatever the imagination demands.
The little sparkling cluster left of NGC 3114 is the Open Cluster Trumpler 12.
