Galactic Nebula IC 410

Galactic Nebula IC 410: This faint nebula in Auriga surrounds the Open Star Cluster NGC 1893 in the center of the image. It has a certain resemblance to the Rosette Nebula in Monoceros. The young bright stars whip with their fierce star winds the gas away from them thus sometimes creating structures out of the denser regions. The "tadpoles" like structures upper left from the center are good examples for this process.

It was taken at the IAS astronomical site at the Hakos farm in Namibia.
