Eagle and Swan Nebula
Eagle and Swan Nebula: This wide-angle view shows in the same field two of the most spectacular emission nebulae in the sky: The Eagle Nebula (M16) and the Swan Nebula (M17). Both objects are intense starbirth regions and have been thoroughly investigated.
In this image M16 is displayed left above center and M17 to the lower right. The image shows also clearly that both nebulae are not isolated objects but part of a much larger region of HII emission.
