Chamaeleon Molecular Cloud: Deep in the Southern constellation of Chamaeleon lies an extended  Molecular Cloud in a distance of about 500 LY. From this cloud new stars are born, the very brightest of which are then capable of illuminating their birthbeds and creating different kinds of nebulae. Some of them are displayed in this fascinating image.
Left of center shines the bright blue Reflection Nebula IC 2631. Right of center there is another beautiful blue reflection nebula Cederblad 111 (also Ced 111 as part of a well-known catalogue of such nebulae) and left above it Cederblad 110, the pale yellow crescent-shaped nebula.

The triangular object beneath Ced 111 is the infrared nebula GN 11.07.3. In the lower left corner the mag 15.3 Spiral Galaxy NGC 3620 is also visible, 65 million LY away.
Very impressive are also the dark nebulae all over the scene. They are very dense parts of the cloud that cannot be penetrated by visible light.
