Ptolemy`s Cluster
Ptolemy`s Cluster: This very conspicuous Open Cluster lies in one of the brightest parts of Milky Way, called the Large Sagittarius Cloud, close to the direction towards the galactic center. It shines bright against a field of stars of nearly unbelievable density. M7 which is its Messier designation, is known since ages and can be observed with the naked eye but especially well with a pair of binoculars.
The image was taken at the observatory of IAS at Hakos Farm in Namibia.
