Lagoon Nebula: Lagoon Nebula or Messier 8 is one of the most prominent nebulae in the sky and a splendid example of a large emission nebula, illuminated by a bright open cluster of young, hot stars down from the center of the image. Also nicely displayed are the various dust spots and lanes from which young stars are probably continuously born, as well as the tremendous shock fronts generated by strong star winds.
