Open Cluster NGC 6231
Open Cluster NGC 6231: This bright Open Cluster is located close to the star Zeta Scorpii and is only about three million years old. It is a fabulous object to observe even through binoculars. It is in a distance of 6000 LY.
The image was taken at the IAS astronomical site at the Hakos farm in Namibia.
