Globular Cluster M5
Globular Cluster M5: M5 in the constellation of Serpens is one of the larger but also one of the oldest Globular Clusters associated with Milky Way. The age is appr. 13 billion years compared with the age of the universe of 13.7 billion years. This shows that these objects are among the oldest in the universe. It is in a distance of about 24500 LY and its diameter is 165 LY.
The image was taken at the IAS astronomical site at the Hakos farm in Namibia.
