Christmas Tree,Fox Fur and Cone Nebula
Christmas Tree,Fox Fur and Cone Nebula: This amazing skyscape in the constellation of Monoceros contains a very well known Open Cluster of very bright young stars in the image center, resembling a Christmas tree, a blue Reflection Nebula close to the bright star S Mon and beneath it another strangely shaped nebula formed like a foxe´s head and fur, called Fox Fur Nebula.
At the top there is a prominent Dark Nebula called Cone Nebula.
The image is a part of a larger view concentrating on the Christmas Tree region.
It has been selected Astrophoto of the Day (APOD)
The image was taken at the observatory of IAS at Hakos Farm in Namibia.
