Trapezium: The center of the Great Orion Nebula is made up from the socalled Trapezium, an arrangement of four very bright young stars, which generate most of the nebular structures through their intensive radiation. This image shows the Trapezium and its neighbourhood highly resolved and in great detail. One can recognize that the four stars are only the brightest ones in a whole cluster of stars, which has just been born out of the surrounding gas and dust.
The image was taken at the IAS astronomical site at the Hakos farm in Namibia.
