Globular Cluster NGC 6397

Globular Cluster NGC 6397: This Globular Cluster in the Southern constellation of Ara is the second closest known with only M4 closer. It also  has a rather loose core. That is why it is a favourite object for astronomers to study. The distance to us is 7200 LY.

The image was taken at the IAS astronomical site at the Hakos farm in Namibia.
