Galactic Nebulae IC 405, 410: These two nebulae in the constellation of Auriga, very often separately shown in astro photographs, are displayed here together in this wide-angle view. At the top is IC 405, the so called Flaming Star Nebula, a combination of emission and reflection parts. Beneath is IC 410, a pure emission nebula with the young star cluster NGC 1893 in its center. IC 405 resides in a distance of about 1500 LY and IC 410 is in a distance of about 12000 LY. Also displayed are the Messier clusters M36 (at the bottom) and M38.

The image was composed from frames taken with three different narrow band filters letting pass only the H-alpha line of hydrogen, the [OIII] line of oxygen and the [SII] line uf sulfur. The composition was done using the socalled Hubble palette for arranging the colors.
