Galactic Nebulae IC 1805,1848: The constellation of Cassiopeia is a huge treasure chest for deep sky objects. Among the top rank definitely these two emission nebulae. IC 1805 at the right hand side is also called Heart Nebula, due to its specific form, to the left is the fainter IC 1848, also called Soul Nebula. Both nebulae are prominent star generating regions with all the specifics of them, e.g. shock- and ionisation fronts as well as dark nebulae (see also the Hi-Res version).
The image was composed from frames taken with three different narrow band filters letting pass only the H-alpha line of hydrogen, the [OIII] line of oxygen and the [SII] line uf sulfur. The composition was done using the socalled Hubble palette for arranging the colors.
It is a cropped version of this wide-field image.
