Mare Imbrium: This is one of the most impressive areas of our Moon: part of the Mare Imbrium (Rain Sea) with its deep craters and high mountain chains. The large crater on the left is Plato, the one on the lower right Eratosthenes. Near the center you see a crater triangel: Archimedes (the biggest), Aristillus (the second biggest) and Autolycus.
On the upper left is a long valley (Alpine Valley) penetrating the Montes Alpes (Alpes). On the right there are the Caucasian and Appennine mountains rising 4000-5000m above the plane.
