The Three Crosses: The most famous orientation mark in the southern sky is the Southern Cross, close to it one of the most remarkable dark nebula, the Coal Sack. Another cross-like arrangement of stars nearby is the so called False Cross, because it is sometimes mistaken for the Southern Cross. But there is a third cross, to make the confusion complete, the Diamond Cross.

This photograph shows all three crosses with indication lines and more than that gives a brilliant impression of one of the brightest parts of our Milky Way in the constellation of Carina. In the center of the image majestic Eta Carinae Nebula, further down to the right Running Chicken Nebula.
