Tarantula Nebula Deep Field

Tarantula Nebula Deep Field: More than three hours exposure give a deep insight into this extragalactic nebula located in our neighbouring galaxy Large Magellanic Cloud, approx. 160000 light years away. It is really a dramatic sight as extremely bright and hot young stars in the center of the image whip with their fast star winds the surrounding matter into shreds while making it glow as emission nebulae. A high oxygen content of the gas cloud gives the emission a greenish tint.

Have a look at the high-resolution version of the image to appreciate the chaotic fine structure even more.
