Reflection Nebula M78

Reflection Nebula M78: Close to the belt stars of the Orion constellation a bright reflection nebula can be found, which is listed already in the famous Messier catalogue. But there is more than just this nebula in the center of the image. Part of the huge Orion molecular cloud, there is a fascinating landscape of dark nebula, bright stars and several reflection nebulae. This whole area again is a fertile star generating region, which continously breads new stars emerging from their dust clouds.

M78 is also designated NGC 2067 and the reflection nebula to the right is NGC 2071.
