Gabriela Mistral Nebula
Gabriela Mistral Nebula:Very close to the huge Eta Carinae Nebula is a less known but beautiful emission nebula, NGC 3324. It is also named after the Chilean poet Gabriela Mistral, whose facial outline is thought to resemble the lower sharp boundary (looking down in this image) of the nebula.The radiation of some very bright young stars makes the hydrogen gas glow.
On the right hand side of the image one of the most beautiful and bright open clusters of the southern sky is also displayed, NGC 3293. It is embedded in a wonderful refletion nebula, shining blue in front of the background of emission and dark nebulae.
