
Carina-Vela-Puppis: This image shows a region of the Milky Way, which cannot be observed in its full extent from the northern hemisphere. In the lower right corner it starts with the constellation of Carina with the prominent Eta Carinae Nebula. Then it spans through the constellation of Vela or the Sail to Puppis, the Stern of the ship of the Argonauts.The faint reddish glow in the center is the huge GUM Nebula.
The bright star in the upper part is Canopus or Alpha Carinae.
