Galactic Nebula Cederblad 214

Galactic Nebula Cederblad 214: In the summer constellation of Cepheus one can find a faint nebulosity which is quite difficult to observe. However when it is photographed with long exposures using also an H-alpha filter, it reveals itself as a wonderful starbirth region. Hydrogen gas and dust are the seeds for star generation as can be easily seen here in the "elephant trunk" like globules. The nebula has the designation Cederblad 214, the Open Cluster up right from the center is called Berkeley 59.

The Hi-Res version shows in a smaller field of view the fine stuctural details even clearer.
