Galaxy NGC 4945
Galaxy NGC 4945: This bright edge-on spiral galaxy belongs to the same group of galaxies as M83 and Centaurus A. It is thought to have many similarities to our Milky Way as e.g. the deep dust lanes. It is classified also as a so called Seyfert galaxy which means that it has a very active core with a super massive Black Hole in its center.
The image was taken at the IAS astronomical site at the Hakos farm in Namibia.
