Southern Celestial Pole(SCP): Unlike in the Northern Hemisphere there is not a bright star in the vicinity of the Southern Celestial Pole (SCP). So finding it is not so easy. This image depicts the most prominent objects, the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds, in its neighbourhood.Included in this image is also an indication of the trapezium-like arrangement of stars around Sigma Octantis, a 5.5 mag star, also called Polaris Australis. SCP denotes the position of the pol.
