Central Cygnus:  This wide-angle image shows the central part of the constellation Cygnus or the Swan, which is one of the brighter parts of the Milky Way,  containing many interesting emission and dark nebulae.  It spans from the Butterfly Nebula (IC 1318) around the bright star Sadir on the left via the Crescent Nebula (NGC 6888) in the center to the Tulip Nebula on the right hand side.
Tulip Nebula was catalogued by the astronomer Stewart Sharpless in his 1959 catalog of nebulae with the designation Sh2-101. Very close to it one finds Cygnus X-1, the first suspected Black Hole in the sky.

The image was composed from frames taken with three different narrow band filters letting pass only the H-alpha line of hydrogen, the [OIII] line of oxygen and the [SII] line uf sulfur. The composition was done using the socalled Hubble palette for arranging the colors.
