Table of Scorpius: The sky region around the stars mu and zeta Scorpii(double stars left and right of center) contains very extensive stretches of emission nebulae, which are a bit neglected by many southern sky observers and also photographers. The area is also called the Table of Scorpius and is displayed in this wide field image in its full extent.
In the middle of the image is the bright emission nebula IC 4628, also called Prawn Nebula and around it an arrangement of different interesting nebulae, the largest one to the right shaped like a crescent moon.

The Hi-Res version displays in a crop of the wide field image the central part of this exciting skyscape.
